Do You Use An Air Compressor? 3 Signs That It Needs To Be Repaired

Posted on: 22 November 2019

If you use an air compressor for your job or at home and it is getting old, problems can start happening. So you can get the air compressor fixed quickly, learn about three signs that the air compressor is having problems and needs to be repaired.

Noisy

If you hear more noise than you normally do while using your air compressor, this is a sign that it is having problems. As a rule, air compressors are already loud, but you should only hear a constant noise as the air compressor is used. If your air compressor is much louder than normal or you hear any type of unusual noise, this is often due to the motor or the compressor. If the compressor is causing the problem, you will hear a humming or rattling noise. A compressor can be replaced by an air compressor repair service.

If the motor is found to be bad, it may be able to be replaced. If the problem with the motor is due to age, it may be time to replace the air compressor as it may cost more money to repair it.

Blown Fuse or Tripped Breaker

A fuse or breaker is installed to provide the power needed to the air compressor. When the air compressor has problems, it may start using more power than normal. If the power is more than the breaker or fuse can handle, this can blow the fuse or cause the breaker to trip, which means the breaker shuts off on its own.

If you are experiencing this problem each time you use your air compressor, the first thing you should do is contact an electrician. This is because the problem could be electrical instead of a problem with your air compressor. The electrician will check the breaker and fuse to determine if they are bad. If so, the electrician can replace the breaker or fuse and your air compressor will work well again. If the electrician does not find problems, however, you need to have your air compressor serviced.

Low or No Air Pressure

If your air compressor is experiencing low air pressure, it can be almost impossible to use the compressor. You may also have no air pressure at all, which makes the air compressor useless.

Low air pressure is generally due to a problem with the compressor or there may be problems with the controls. There may be a slipped belt inside the air compressor. Fortunately, these problems can generally be repaired. No air pressure at all is due to a control problem. Make sure the settings are correct on the controls. If the settings are correct, have the air compressor repaired by an air compressor repair service.

The air compressor repair service can tell you of other signs to watch out for that your air compressor needs to be repaired.
